More than 1.1 billion dollars have so far been pledged for the relief effort after the Asian tsunami disaster, the United Nations announced on Friday. "We are now counting new pledges by the hour. We're now between 1.1 billion and 1.2 billion dollars," the UN's emergency relief co-ordinator, Jan Egeland, told reporters.
